Hetzner+tweaking settings is enough?

Hello I am planning soon to open my first server player base will be Brazilians and Europeans. I am thinking of starting with CCX33 description on image attached located in Ashburn USA. The expected latency for brazillians is 100-150ms and for Europeans 80-130ms will be playable? As Hetzner has basic ddos protection I will use @Trance guide: https://maxcheaters.com/topic/247623-the-linux-series-part-1/ for tweaking but is that enough? Ovh would be a better option?

Hi, I just want to give you my opinion and experience opening a new server for lationamerica/usa.

if your server is new without community, the hardest thing is to get players even if the project is the coolest you've seen. so you will not see much income starting. so I recommend even start with a simpler VPS and go climbing. if you are worried about the ddos and come to attack you better see it as something good because you're bothering someone who is probably losing players, for my part only buy protection after the first attacks.

As I said previously this is just my experience and it is not the absolute truth but I hope it helps you.

Thank you for your suggestion but I prefer to be prepared even if my server fail so I will learn to do it correctly. If you have any suggestion about machine with decent latency for br, eu and good ddos protection let me know. Eventually, after searching ovh seems like one way solution probably i will start with a vps and use the guide above and if my server grows I will get a dedicated from ovh as they have some really good offers. If someone has used netcup, hetzner for more than 200 players would be interesting to hear.

Brazilians are used to playing with 120ms... servers with good pings for Brazil or Latin America rarely appear.

Initially I wouldn't worry about this. Now if your community grows quite a bit to Latin America, I would recommend using a proxy to help with this. https://l2up.host/proxy.html

I think there won't be enough money for advertising to load the server with players.

Would suggest to take dedicated server on Hetzner https://www.hetzner.com/dedicated-rootserver/ax41-nvme ( currently 0$ set up + 42$ per months ) and free to use how u want , linux or put image of windwos server if needed.
Will easily hold up to 1k players.

Don't worry, you won't be able to gather that many players. It will be enough for 5+k if the assembly itself pulls. Better take the root server for the game server.

has anyone used this one https://www.crowdsec.net/ ? it is for free and provides extra ddos protection.
